Jay Ong, who is Marvel’s senior VP of innovations and games, has stated that fans can anticipate some VR-related declarations, which the company is “really excited” to share.
During an interview with GameSpot, Ong was asked what fans can anticipate as far as computer games are concerned. Here’s what he said;
“It’s going to be exciting here. Absolutely expect some announcements in VR, that’s something we’re really excited about. I think our fans are going to go crazy. The things we’re doing there are absolutely amazing.”
He then went ahead to clarify the studio’s take on VR, expressing that Marvel sees VR in a similar way that it sees different stages in that the company wouldn’t like to release something “just for the novelty of it.” Ong likewise communicated his assurance in Spider-Man and said that it’ll be “one of the best games” on the PlayStation 4. He stated;
“In VR, we have that same ambition. We think if we do something there, it shouldn’t be just for the novelty of it. It should be something that defines the platform, that defines the experience. Certainly we’re looking to build when Spider-Man comes out, it’ll be one of the best games on the platform, and when Avengers comes out, it’ll be one of the best games on those platforms. We think our efforts in VR will be the same thing.”
Insomniac-created Spider-Man is booked for release on the PS4 at some point this year.
