Till a few days back, the only Joker that the movie audiences could instantly recall was the clown prince of crime from the DC Comics, however, things seemed to have changed now with the arrival of Stephen King’s It.
However, fans don’t need to take sides as they can enjoy both of the evil clowns. At least that’s what the artist BossLogic’s latest work suggests. This piece is a mashup of the frightening Pennywise played by Bill Skarsgard in It and the wicked Joker from Suicide Squad, played by Jared Leto.
Skarsgard recently stated during an interview that Pennywise is closer to the Heath Ledger version seen in The Dark Knight and he said that Pennywise is also a character closer to reality than the mayhem loving Joker played by Ledger.
From the time It released on September 8, It has been shattering records at box office and it blew away the projections of it collecting 60-75 million dollars from the opening weekend as it went on to become the top grosser of 2017 with a collection of $123 million and by now the film has crossed the $255 million mark globally.
This also happens to be the highest opening collection in the history of September releases and the second all-time greatest collection for an R-Rated film, trailing only to Deadpool.
We saw Jared Leto’s first performance as Joker in the Suicide Squad and now he is set to appear repeatedly in the DCEU’s future movies The Batman, Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens and a presently untitled film based on the romance of Joker and Harley Quinn.
Other than these films, there are also plans at Warner Bros. to create a solo Joker origin film outside the DCEU, but, that one won’t feature Jared Leto as Joker. Martin Scorcese is producing that film and Todd Phillips is on board to direct it.
